Bollywood actress Preity Zinta recently embarked on a spiritual journey to Varanasi’s Kashi Vishwanath temple for Mahashivratri, accompanied by her mother, Nilprabha Zinta, following a holy dip at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. The trip, which took place after the Maha Kumbh event, saw her forgo VIP services, opting instead to travel through crowded streets using auto-rickshaws, cycle rickshaws, and on foot alongside other devotees. On March 3, she shared a detailed account and a video montage of this experience on her X account.
The journey began with a drive from Prayagraj to Varanasi, but heavy crowds forced a change in plans as roads were blocked and cars were prohibited near the Kashi Vishwanath temple. Undeterred, Preity and her mother embraced the situation, using public transport and walking with the masses to reach their destination. Her post captured the essence of this adventure, reflecting her willingness to connect with the public in a rare, unfiltered manner for a celebrity. A Journey Driven by Faith and Family Preity’s narrative on X provided an intimate look at the trip, emphasizing the spiritual and personal significance it held. “What an adventure this trip has been. Mom wanted to wrap up our Mahakumbh trip in Varanasi for Shivratri. So I told her, of course ma, let's go. From sitting in a car to an auto-rickshaw to a cycle rickshaw, we did it all and more, as we walked forever in crazy crowds. Once we got there we found out that due to heavy crowds, cars were not allowed & roads were blocked after a point, so people could walk & do darshan at the Kashi Vishwanath temple,” she wrote. This decision to proceed without VIP assistance showcased her adaptability and respect for the traditional pilgrimage experience. Reflections on Varanasi and Personal Growth Preity also shared positive observations about the Varanasi crowd, adding depth to her experience at Kashi Vishwanath. “The crowd in Varanasi was very decent. Never did I encounter anything negative, and people are essentially good. Even though the trip took us hours, we never felt it, thanks to the power of faith and the collective energy of the people around,” she remarked. This sentiment highlighted her appreciation for the community spirit, a departure from the typical celebrity narrative of seeking exclusivity.
