The Madras High Court on Wednesday passed an ad interim injunction restraining internet service providers and cable TV operators from unlawfully broadcasting Dhurandhar The Revenge ahead of its theatrical release on March 19, 2026.

Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy issued the order while hearing applications filed by Reliance Industries Limited and its media arm Jio Studios. The producers had approached the court seeking urgent protection against potential copyright infringement.

In its plea, Reliance alleged that several intermediaries, including internet service providers and cable TV operators, may illegally stream or transmit the film without authorisation. The company also submitted the certification issued by the Central Board of Film Certification, identifying it as the producer of the film.

The court noted that the film is scheduled for release on March 19 and observed that in such cases, the risk of irreparable harm is significant if interim relief is not granted. At the same time, it acknowledged that the respondents’ business interests could also be affected by such an order.

Balancing these considerations, the court directed Reliance to indemnify the respondents for any potential losses arising from the injunction. Subject to this condition, it restrained the respondents from unlawfully broadcasting or transmitting the film until April 15, 2026.

The court also issued notice to the respondents in the matter, which will next be heard on April 15.

Dhurandhar The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar, is a Hindi-language spy action thriller and a sequel to the 2025 film Dhurandhar. The film stars Ranveer Singh as an undercover operative navigating the criminal and political underworld. The cast also includes Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan and Arjun Rampal.

The all-time grosser Dhurandhar (2025) ended on a high. Viewers wondered who Bade Sahab is and most importantly, which actor would essay the role of the mysterious figure. In the months that followed, speculations arose that Emraan Hashmi or Akshay Kumar had been signed to play Bade Sahab. It has now come to light that these reports were false and its actor, Danish Iqbal, who essays the said part.

Danish Iqbal has previously worked in significant films and shows like Maharani, Aranyak, Faraaz, Aakhri Sach, Bhakshak, Haq, The Hunt: The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case etc. Last week, viewers saw him in the role of K C Majumdar in Prakash Jha's recently released web series, Sankalp. Like Dhurandhar, the political revenge drama was also produced by Jio Studios.

Speaking of Dhurandhar The Revenge, it is the sequel to Dhurandhar (2025), which starred Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and others. It tells the story of an Indian who infiltrates Pakistan and shakes the political and military system. The sequel takes his story forward and also focuses on what his life was like before he entered Pakistan.

Yesterday, the music launch of Dhurandhar The Revenge, also the only event for the much-awaited film, took place at Mumbai’s NESCO in the presence of hundreds of fans. Ranveer made a dramatic entry and he told fans, “Thanks to your love, Dhurandhar reached a historic milestone. Thank you from our whole team to all the cinema-going audience.”

He added, “Dhurandhar The Revenge releases the day after tomorrow. Moviegoers not just in the country but across the world are eagerly waiting for it. Our whole team is thrilled and we are grateful to the response generated by the first part of the film. We are also so humbled by the excitement and anticipation for the second part. It's unprecedented. We are all still processing it.”

A few days ago, the industry and fans got a surprise when it was announced that Salman Khan’s much-awaited next film, Battle Of Galwan, has been renamed Maatrubhumi. And now, as per the buzz in the trade, another awaited film might also go for a title change – Yeh Prem Mol Liya, directed by Sooraj Barjatya.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “There have been discussions over changing the title of the film to Yeh Prem Moh Maya Hai. If all goes well, the new title will be locked and will be announced officially in a few days.”

Yeh Prem Mol Liya stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari in the lead role, along with Shaad Randhawa, Anupam Kher, Seema Pahwa, and Supriya Pathak in pivotal roles. It is presented and produced by Rajshri Productions in association with Mahaveer Jain Films and Anita Gurnani. It marks the second association for Mahaveer Jain and Sooraj Barjatya after the acclaimed flick Uunchai (2022).

In December 2025, Shaad Randhawa, who left a mark with his performances in the 2025 sleeper successes, Saiyaara and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, revealed that he had bagged the film. In January this year, he exclusively told Bollywood Hungama, “It is a film that only Sooraj can make. It’s about family, values and romance. There’s dada ji, dadi ji, nani, bua – it’s that kind of a film (smiles). It touches upon relationships; I don’t think anybody knows relationships better than Sooraj ji. The film also tells a beautiful love story. I am sure everybody would be looking forward to the film because we have been missing that kind of film. We haven’t seen a family entertainer in the longest time.”

In February, we were the first ones to report that Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari shot for the film at Goregaon railway station in Mumbai. As per sources, the shoot, which started on November 1 last year, is about to wrap up soon.

The music launch of Dhurandhar The Revenge, also the only event for the much-awaited film, took place on March 17 at Mumbai’s NESCO in the presence of hundreds of fans. Organized by Spotify, the event was slightly marred by mismanagement, as the team failed to provide adequate passes to mediapersons, leading to some minor chaos. Thankfully, the Dhurandhar The Revenge team made up for it with their quotes and live performances.

Ranveer Singh made a dramatic entry at the very beginning and performed to the song ‘Aari Aari’, which has already become a rage. He then asked the fans, “Did you love the music of Dhurandhar Part 1? Which is your favourite song?” As fans shouted out the names of various tracks, Ranveer smiled and remarked, “Dekho, yehi toh khaas baat hai. Sab ke alag alag favourites hain.”

He then touched upon the historic box office success achieved by the first part, “Thanks to your love, Dhurandhar reached a historic milestone. Thank you from our whole team to all the cinema-going audience.”

He added, “Dhurandhar The Revenge releases the day after tomorrow. Moviegoers not just in the country but across the world are eagerly waiting for it. Our whole team is thrilled and we are grateful to the response generated by the first part of the film. We are also so humbled by the excitement and anticipation for the second part. Ranveer continued, “We are here today for the music launch and to celebrate Shashwat Sachdev. This unstoppable fireball juggernaut of a talent. He's just too good.”

He further stated, “I have had the great honour of being in the studio with him. He is one of a kind. He's going to go down in history as one of the greats and he's just getting started!”

He also said, “Shashwat ne dono filmon mein apni jaan daal di. The music became the jaan of this film. Be it the title track, ‘Lutt Le Gaya’, ‘Ez-Ez’, ‘Naal Nachna’ – look at the versatility in just one album! There’s a song for every mood. Everywhere I go, people tell me, ‘We are only listening to Dhurandhar music’. College jaao, gym jaao; jahan jao, wahaan Dhurandhar ke gaane baj rahe hai. Nothing can be more gratifying for us artistes.”

Towards the end, he said, “It’s a big evening for me. Thank you for being here. I am too happy to be with you all!” He signed off by exclaiming, “Ab Indian cinema ka mustakbil Dhurandhar The Revenge tay karega!”

His co-star Sara Arjun added, “Thank you for all the love and encouragement that you have given Dhurandhar and me. Aaj jo Dhurandhar bani hai, woh sirf aapki wajah se bani hai. I’ll always maintain that asli Dhurandhar aur sabse bada Dhurandhar hamari audience hai!”

Actor Celina Jaitly has reacted after the Delhi High Court dismissed her petition seeking communication and legal assistance for her brother, Major (Retd.) Vikrant Jaitly, who is currently detained in the United Arab Emirates.

According to a reports, the court disposed of the plea after being informed that Vikrant Jaitly had declined to communicate with his sister and preferred to make legal decisions in consultation with his wife, Charul Jaitly. The court was also told that he had been granted consular access on multiple occasions and had refused legal representation offered to him, including pro bono assistance.

Responding to the development, Celina Jaitly shared a note on Instagram expressing concern while acknowledging the court’s decision. She wrote, “Today was the last hearing of my writ petition. I had approached the Hon’ble Court out of deep concern for the safety, security & well being of my brother.” She added, “He is in a foreign nation & as his sister, I felt it was my duty to ensure that he was not left without protection or support,” and noted that despite navigating personal challenges, she felt compelled to seek legal intervention for his welfare.

In her post, the actor emphasised that her intention was to ensure her brother’s safety and access to necessary support while he remains in custody abroad. She also expressed gratitude towards the authorities for their continued involvement, stating that her actions were guided by concern as a family member.

While closing the matter, the court directed authorities to remain in touch with Vikrant Jaitly and extend assistance if required, observing that there was no reason to continue the petition given his stated position. The case has drawn attention over the past year, with Jaitly consistently seeking clarity and support regarding her brother’s situation in the UAE.

On March 17, 2026, Prime Video announced its upcoming Prime Original movie, Mess. This comedy marks the second collaboration between the streaming service and HRX Films (a division of FilmKraft Productions, following the announcement of the thriller series Storm. Produced by Hrithik Roshan and Eshaan Roshan under the banner of HRX Films along with Rajesh A Krishnan's Soda Films Lab, Mess is directed by Krishnan. The original screenplay for the film was written by American writer Paul Soter, and the adapted screenplay and dialogue were written by Kapil Sawant. Mess tells the story about a motley group of robbers, who, upon invading the family house of a man with OCD, slowly realise it’s not the family but them who need to survive this night-long standoff.

With Mess, we have a story that not only does that but makes you laugh at every step,” said Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals, Prime Video India. “The movie has a refreshingly original premise and a unique set of delightful characters. Actor Salman Khan recently announced a significant update to his upcoming war drama, revealing its new title as Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. The project was earlier known as Battle of Galwan, and the revised name points to a noticeable shift in tone and messaging.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is inspired by the 2020 India-China military clash in the Galwan Valley. Salman Khan will portray late Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu in the film, which initially began shooting in Ladakh in September 2025 and was close to completion by December the same year.

However, the project is currently undergoing extensive changes. According to a Mid-Day report, the team has been reshooting portions of the film in Mumbai since February 2026, with nearly 40 days of additional work planned. The revised schedule includes filming new sequences aimed at reshaping the narrative.

One of the notable additions is a Chinese-language song, which will be composed by Himesh Reshammiya. The song is expected to be filmed featuring Salman Khan once it is finalised and recorded.

The changes are reportedly influenced by evolving geopolitical circumstances. Reportedly, the makers revisited the film’s approach in light of a cautious easing in relations between India and China. Given the sensitivity surrounding the Galwan conflict, the team is said to have opted for a narrative that places greater emphasis on themes of peace, harmony and the human cost of war, rather than focusing solely on the conflict itself.

With its revised title, additional scenes and new thematic direction, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace seems to be shaping up differently from its original conception.

Filmmaker Prakash Jha is bringing back Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in a sequel to his 2010 hit Raajneeti.

“And like the first Raajneeti, the second part will also be based on the Mahabharat,” said Prakash Jha whose new series Sankalp on the arrogance and corruption in the educational system of Bihar is resonating on the OTT platform.

Jha said, “The script for Raajneeti 2 is finally ready. And the time is ripe for the sequel to Raajneeti. There is so much more story to tell than what we have seen so far.”

Raajneeti 2 is expected to have the same stellar cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif (who has been on a long maternity leave and this would be her comeback), Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee and Naseeruddin Shah.

Raajneeti had created history on many counts. Katrina, earlier known for her glamour alone, had played a character resembling Sonia Gandhi and she was fully committed to getting it right.

Prakash Jha just can't stop preening over the fact that his Raajneeti featured the maximum number of National Award winners in its cast. “It was Ranbir I was most hopeful about. I hoped, in fact, I was pretty certain he would win the National Award for his performance.” Ranbir played an US-educated scion of a political dynasty who had to reluctantly return home to shoulder his family's duties.

Said Jha, “This film took Ranbir to another level. In fact, everyone was outstanding in the film. And why not? I had a line-up of National Award winners in the cast, from Naseeruddin Shah and Nana Patekar to Manoj Bajpai and Ajay Devgan.”

Indian Film actor and global youth advocate Sanjana Sanghi has been invited to Harvard University on April 18, 2026, to participate in the prestigious Women in Power Conference (WIPC) at the Harvard Kennedy School. In a historic line-up for the 2026 edition, titled ‘Power Beyond the Podium: Turning Vision into Change.’

First Ray Films has unveiled the teaser poster of the much-anticipated action thriller Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business, marking a special moment for the franchise and its creator. The announcement coincides with the birthday of actor-director Anshuman Jha, making the reveal both a celebration of the film and a personal milestone for the artist.

The film centres around the endangered Celebes crested macaque, a rare primate native to Indonesia, also known as the North Sulawasi ‘Yaki Monkey’.

Along with the teaser poster drop, the makers have officially announced the film’s worldwide theatrical release for Diwali 2026, positioning the sequel as one of the festival season’s big action spectacles. The film will be having a high profile film festival run between June-November prior to its Worldwide release.

Directed by Anshuman Jha, Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business continues the story of Kolkata based Arjun Bakshi — the animal-loving vigilante who, once again, will go the distance to protect voiceless creatures from cruelty and exploitation - this time in the forests of West Java, Indonesia. Expanding the universe beyond India, the sequel ventures into Southeast Asia, tackling the global issue of wildlife trafficking.

Blending intense hand-to-hand combat with a strong environmental message, the film builds on the spirit of the first installment, which introduced audiences to a unique action hero driven not by revenge, but by compassion for animals.

A recent news report claims that the Kapoor family obtained the necessary permission to copyright the actor’s name posthumously. The decision, according to the report, ensures that any individual or organisation seeking to use Rishi Kapoor’s name in commercial, professional, or public contexts must first obtain approval from the family.

However, when this writer contacted the late actor Rishi Kapoor’s wife Neetu Kapoor, she admitted she had no knowledge of any such move by the family. Mrs Kapoor replied, “Hi Subhash, I am not aware of this.” When I asked if this was false news, she replied. “I think so. I am not sure.”

Close family friend and singer Nitin Mukesh said, “I don’t think this can be true. I mean Chintu, who was like my brother, didn’t have a stylized personality, unlike Raj uncle (Rishi Kapoor’s father Raj Kapoor) who was known for his mannerisms that were universally copied. Chintu was….how do I put it…inimitable.”

Of late, there have been some actors known for their patented acting style like Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Shatrughan Sinha, who have gone to court to have their personalities copyrighted. But Rishi Kapoor seems a case of barking up the wrong tree.

The Haryana State Commission for Women has directed the Haryana police to seize Badshah’s passport, so he cannot leave the country and that he be arrested immediately.

These harsh steps have been evoked after Badshah’s song ‘Tateeree’ provoked strong reactions. On March 6, Badshah skipped the hearing at the Women’s Commission.

Calling for his immediate arrest, the Commission has accused Badshah of denigrating the women and girls of Haryana. It would be hard for rappers-singers like Badshah and Yo Yo Honey Singh to get away with problematic lyrics in the future.

Veteran actor Anil Kapoor recently revealed that he was approached for a cameo in Dhurandhar: The Revenge but had to decline the offer due to prior professional commitments.

The film is the sequel to Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, which released on December 5, 2025 and went on to emerge as a major box office success. The scale of the first installment and its ensemble cast have contributed significantly to the anticipation surrounding the sequel.

Speaking at the India Today Conclave, Kapoor shared that Dhar had approached him for a small role in the upcoming film. However, the actor said he had already committed his dates to another filmmaker.

“Yes, Aditya came to me for Dhurandhar 2. He wanted me to do a small cameo in the film. But the reason I am what I am today is because of my professionalism and my commitment. That’s very important—only talent cannot make you what you are,” Kapoor said.

Explaining why he declined the role, the 69-year-old actor added, “At that time, I had already committed those dates to another filmmaker. I told Aditya, ‘I would have loved to do this cameo, but I’m already committed.’ He is releasing the film now, and it’s a fantastic film. It’s my loss, but it’s okay. So yes, he did offer me the role, and hopefully we will work together in the future.”

Following his revelation, social media users began speculating whether Kapoor had been approached to play the mysterious character ‘Bade Sahab’, whose identity is expected to be revealed in the sequel. There have also been rumours about Emraan Hashmi being linked to the role, though the makers have not confirmed any details.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Akshaye Khanna. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on March 19, 2026.

The Kapoor family has taken a legal step to safeguard the legacy of late actor Rishi Kapoor by securing copyright rights over his name. The move aims to ensure that the veteran star’s identity is not used without the family’s permission. According to a report by India Today, the family recently obtained permission to copyright the actor’s name. As a result, any individual or organisation wishing to use “Rishi Kapoor” in a professional, commercial, or public capacity will now require prior approval from the family.

A source was quoted as saying, “As per the copyright, anyone wanting to use the name Rishi Kapoor or mention it in any capacity would need prior permission from the family.” The source further added that the decision was taken to prevent any misuse of the late actor’s name and reputation following his passing.

Rishi Kapoor, widely regarded as one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved stars, passed away on April 30, 2020, at the age of 67 after battling Leukemia.

In recent years, several prominent Bollywood personalities have taken similar legal measures to protect their names, likenesses, and intellectual property. Celebrities such as Shilpa Shetty, Kajol, Vivek Oberoi, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anil Kapoor have also secured legal protections for their identities.

Such steps are typically aimed at preventing unauthorised commercial use, including merchandise, brand endorsements, or other ventures that attempt to capitalise on a celebrity’s identity without proper permission.

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has revealed the first poster of his upcoming film Main Vaapas Aaunga, offering audiences an early glimpse of the project ahead of its teaser launch today at 1 PM. The film stars Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role alongside Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina and Sharvari Wagh.

Sharing the poster on social media, Ali announced, “Main Vaapas Aaunga. Teaser out today at 1 PM,” confirming that the film will arrive in theatres on June 12, 2026.

The film is backed by Applause Entertainment and Window Seat Films, with Mohit Choudhary also attached as a producer. According to the makers, the project is described as a story exploring themes of love and longing. One of the notable aspects of the film is the reunion of Ali with composer A. R. Rahman and lyricist Irshad Kamil. The trio have previously collaborated on films such as Tamasha, Highway and the 2024 biographical drama Amar Singh Chamkila, which also featured Dosanjh in the lead role.

Main Vaapas Aaunga also marks another collaboration between Ali and Dosanjh following Amar Singh Chamkila, which premiered on Netflix in 2024. The actor, known for working across Punjabi and Hindi cinema, has built a strong presence both as a singer and performer in Indian films over the past decade.

Earlier reports about the film noted that it brings together Dosanjh, Raina and Sharvari on screen for the first time, with Shah adding veteran presence to the ensemble cast. Production on the film began in 2025 and the project is currently in post-production as it gears up for its theatrical release in June 2026. With the poster now out, the teaser dropping later today is expected to offer the first visual glimpse of Ali’s next directorial venture.

The much-awaited Dhurandhar: The Revenge is all set to release in less than a week, on March 19. To capitalize on the excitement, Jio Studios decided to organize paid previews on Wednesday, March 18, from 5:00 pm onwards. The response to the ticket sales is historic. And now it has been re-released in several theatres, where it had ended its run, giving viewers a chance to recap before watching the sequel next week. As per the official communication on March 12, Dhurandhar’s first part is currently running in 1000+ screens worldwide with more than 1250 shows.

Dhurandhar’s first part will continue to run in cinemas until the afternoon of March 18, after which it will be replaced by Dhurandhar: The Revenge. This marks the first time ever that the first part of a film has remained in cinemas until the release of its sequel. In short, the first installment has created history in more ways than one, and it now remains to be seen how many records Dhurandhar: The Revenge will go on to break.

In a move aimed at making the movie-going experience more inclusive, the Central Board of Film Certification has made subtitles mandatory for films across languages. The CBFC’s directive will come into effect from March 15, 2026. Henceforth, all Indian films will be required to include subtitles, along with audio descriptions wherever applicable.

The move is intended to improve accessibility for audiences who are hearing or visually impaired, allowing them to experience films more fully regardless of language or physical limitations.

However, not all netizens are happy with the CBFC’s decision to make subtitles mandatory. Many have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction, arguing that subtitles can be distracting and interfere with the immersive movie-viewing experience.
