Neena Gupta was seen in only two projects last year – Panchayat Season 3 and Kaagaz 2. But in 2025, the veteran actress is all set to have multiple releases across mediums. She began her account this year with Dil Dosti Aur Dogs, which was released on JioHotstar on February 28. Neena Gupta listed out her forthcoming projects during an exclusive interaction with Bollywood Hungama.
Arguably, her most awaited project is Panchayat Season 4. The earlier three seasons have fulfilled all expectations and is a rare web series which can be seen with the whole family. Neena Gupta refused to share more about it and simply said, “Its shooting is over and it should be out this year. Vadh 2’s shooting is also completed. I have finished Metro In Dino with Anurag Basu. Then, I have also done another film with Jio Studios named Ameeri, co-starring Rakul Preet Singh. Meanwhile, in March, my other film with Jio Studios will be released called Baa.”
Badhaai Ho sequel
Neena Gupta’s life took a turn with the blockbuster success of Badhaai Ho (2018), co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra and Gajraj Rao. Is there a possibility of its sequel? It would be interesting to know what happens in their lives after the lovely and dramatic climax of the first part.
Neena Gupta revealed, “A lot of people asked for it. But I feel that when we have something so beautiful, toh usko bigaadna nahin chahiye.”
She then revealed, “You know, I was offered Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro 2. The producer had spoken to me and also started discussions about my fees. They even sent me the script. But it never happened. Later, director Kundan Shah also passed away. But it was a long script. I was playing the main lead as Bhakti Barve was no more. But woh hua hi nahin. But with Badhaai Ho, I had never heard that the makers wanted to make a second part.”
Neena Gupta – the next action heroine?
In an interview with Bombay Times in November 2023, Neena Gupta revealed “I am eager to take on an action film offered to me where I have a double role, but I have yet to hear back from them.”
When asked about its status, she replied, “Yes, I was offered this film but then nothing happened. I guess it takes a while to get the finances and other things in place. Nevertheless, I am still optimistic that it will be made someday. I just hope that before I grow too old, they come back to me (laughs)!”
