In a chat with HTCity, actor Sonia Rathee, who starred opposite the late Siddharth Shukla in Broken But Beautiful season 3, expressed her approval of the decision to forgo the fourth season of the show. “I think the gesture is brilliant,” Rathee, 35, said. “I don’t think Agastya (Shukla) and Rumi’s (Rathee) story should have gone forward without Siddharth. It wouldn’t have felt right.”

Honoring a legacy

It’s been three years since Siddharth Shukla’s untimely demise in September 2021, shortly after the release of Broken But Beautiful 3 in May of the same year. To honor his memory, producer-director Ekta Kapoor announced that the series will not continue without him. Rathee added, “This is actually a very beautiful homage to him. Ekta knew season four cannot be made with anybody else but him. He definitely deserved an homage and it’s quite beautiful that they decided to do that because he kind of encapsulates what Agastya was, and Rumi’s story can’t go on without him.”

Memories on set

Reflecting on her time with Shukla, Rathee, who was last seen in Tara Vs Bilal (2022), recalled how nervous she was initially, being new to the craft. She shared, “I remember it was my first day on set and it was my second scene shooting the show and I had to cry...I was so nervous. I was working myself up and had already taken eight takes. He just took me aside and said ‘it’s ok, chill. Main raat bhar rahunga yaha. It’s fine.’ And he did that several times during the filming of the series.”

Unmatchable aura

Rathee praised Shukla’s supportive nature and unmatchable aura, stating she felt “blessed” to have worked with him. “He was a mentor to me. I remember having long conversations where he would advise me, all because I was so new. Every time I look back at it, I remember all the things he used to tell me, and they ring so true.”

Grateful reflections

Sonia Rathee’s reflections on her time with Siddharth Shukla are filled with gratitude and admiration. “I learned so much from him. He definitely brought confidence in me, and I will always be grateful for that. I will always reflect back on that time with such a filled heart, and it will always make me happy,” she concluded.

Kussh Sinha opened up about coming across reports which claimed that he is unhappy with the wedding. Denying such claims, Sinha said, "I have already seen people publishing inaccurate information. It started with an article in a leading portal that had a quote by an unnamed source. I am not sure who's doing all this right now and where it's coming from. But a few houses have my images from the night,” he told News 18 further adding that ‘this is a sensitive time for the family’.

Furthermore, he insisted that he was a part of the wedding ceremonies but maintained that he isn’t paparazzi friendly and wanted to keep a distance. "It's just that I am a private individual and I am not seen that much but that doesn't mean that I wasn't there,” he shared. He also shared his heartfelt wishes to the newlyweds by adding, "I was present and I have only good wishes for my sister and will always wish her well."

Reports claimed that the entire Sinha family was not happy about the wedding

However, Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha rubbished these reports. The actor-turned-politician discarded such claims asserting that like every marriage, they too faced some pre-wedding issues which was resolved later with Zaheer Iqbal and his family. Meanwhile, Luv Sinha have asked for a day or two from the media, after which he is expected to give his official statement.

The couple tied the knot in a registered ceremony under the Special Marriage Act 1954 in Mumbai, after which they hosted a lavish but informal reception in the plush restaurant Bastian. It was attended by several popular celebrities from the film fraternity.

So, we did this, went back home, my whole family come to see me surprises me. It was so boring that I was like snooze alert. I’m like why am I even doing this? You’re not giving me questions. Should we just drop the rapid fire? Main hi hamper ghar le jaata hoon because no one really deserves to win it,” said Karan.

He further stated about Season 9 being on the cards and shared, “Let’s change the world of Koffee with Karan. Let season 9 be all the fun, all the chattiness and all the candour but let’s do it in a way that is not putting the celebrities in an awkward, touchy space. But what Atlee is trying to pull off is something that most would not even dare to imagine. Yes, you read that right. According to our highly informed sources, Atlee is planning to make the biggest film in Indian Cinema by bringing together the top two superstars of Indian Cinema - Salman Khan and Rajinikanth.

Our sources have confirmed these plans, and informed us that the meeting of Atlee, Rajinikanth, and Salman Khan will happen next month. "Sun Pictures will be producing the film and they share a family-like bond with superstar Rajinikanth. Atlee on the other hand has been in touch with Salman Khan for the last two years. They are confident to get both Rajinikanth and Salman Khan on board," a trade source told Bollywood Hungama.

The film in question is yet to get a title but the makers want to take it on floors by the end of 2024. "Salman Khan aims to start Atlee film after wrapping up Sikandar. Superstar Rajinikanth on the other hand will take this up after Coolie. It is a combination to be remembered for generations'" the trade source further told us.

Atlee last directed Jawan with Shah Rukh Khan and is now planning to take the stakes even higher with Salman and Rajinikanth.

Go and ask those who suffer from such incidents every day, living their lives in misery,” she shared in her note.

Devoleena continued, “This is why the Special Marriage Act and UCC (Uniform Civil Code) should be mandatory. So that the law is the same for everyone and society can be free from such filth. A second wife while having a first wife. Imagine if in the name of equality, wives started having 2-2 husbands, would you still be entertained.”

Nearly four decades since its inception and several highs and lows later, Vashu Bhagnani's Pooja Entertainment is reeling from a major financial setback. The production banner, known for making blockbuster entertaining movies like Coolie No.1, Biwi No.1, and Hero No.1, among others, is downsizing its operations following consecutive box office failures, Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learnt.

According to trade sources familiar with the development, Vashu Bhagnani has sold his seven-floor office of Pooja Entertainment to a builder. The identity of the builder who purchased the land and the amount it sold for is not disclosed yet, but they will apparently now demolish the building to create a luxurious residential project on the plot.

Vashu has also sacked almost 80% of employees and shifted the office base to a two-bedroom flat in Juhu, the sources have revealed. The layoffs began in January 2024 after Jagan Shakti’s film starring Tiger Shroff was shelved following a two-year struggle to take it on floors. The workforce was further reduced in April, specifically after the release of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. This development comes on the heels of the disastrous box office failure of BMCM, which barely earned Rs. 59.17 crores at the box office against the investment of Rs. 350 crores, resulting in losses of at least Rs. 125-150 crores for the production banner. Sources say Vashu has sold the building to pay off debts to multiple financiers, amounting to approximately Rs. 250 crores.

“It all started with Bell Bottom, which was one of the first Hindi movie to be released in theatres post the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. The film flopped badly at the box office and so did the next one, Mission Raniganj. The company faced another setback when the big-budget Ganapath failed to perform and was even rejected by Netflix despite an acquisition deal. Red flags had already begun to appear in the company's financial sheet by this point, and the enormous investment in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan made matters worse. Even still, the firm held out hope that the action entertainer starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff would turn around its financial situation. However, the historic failure of this Ali Abbas Zafar directorial almost crippled the company. Vashu had no choice but to sell the building to pay off the enormous debt,” a source familiar with the development told Bollywood Hungama.

Despite these challenges, sources claim that Pooja Entertainment is not folding. Vashu and his son Jackky Bhagnani are determined to reboot operations and have already started discussions with actors and directors for a fresh slate of movies. In contrast to rumours, they are going ahead with Shahid Kapoor’s Ashwatthama project that they announced just a few months back.

Pooja Entertainment was established in 1986 and has produced around 40 movies to date. The big successes include their films with David Dhawan, such as Coolie No.1, Hero No.1, Biwi No.1, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and highly appreciated movies such as Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Om Jai Jagadish, among others. The success ratio of the company, however, is outperformed by its big box office failures such as Himmatwala (2013), Humshakals (2014), Bell Bottom, Mission Raniganj, Ganapath, and the recent Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.

Among the Pyaar Ka Punchnama cast, Nushrratt Bharuccha and Ishita Raj are among the ones who continue to share a great friendship. Nushratt Bharuccha’s upcoming films

After receiving good reviews for her power-packed role in Akelli, Nushratt Bharuccha will now mark her return in the horror franchise Chhorii 2 which is currently in the shooting stage. Further details on the film’s release are awaited.

Taking his stardom to the next level, Sunny Deol signed a rather interesting deal this week. The actor will be making his big Telugu debut with the untitled film, which will be directed by Gopichand Malineni. The film, which is currently being referred to as SDGM, was announced earlier this week with the shooting commencing this month and will have Saiyami Kher as the leading lady as well as Regina Cassandra in a key role.

Gopichand Malineni talks about his first collaboration with Sunny Deol

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Gopichand Malineni revealed that the script was written for someone like Sunny Deol. Speaking of whether he is nervous or excited about directing Deol, Malineni said, “More than nervous about my Bollywood debut, I feel confident that it’ll be a good film. I wrote the script knowing it’ll be perfect for someone like Sunny. Luckily, Mythri Movie Makers also agreed and helped me approach him. To my surprise, Sunny said yes immediately because he liked it so much.”

Gopichand asserts that the film is not a remake

He refrained from revealing too many details about the film.  “I wish I could reveal much, but I can’t yet. Let’s just say the film has a particular plot point that sets it apart. It’s not just about the mass elements my films usually have; it’s going to be a racy script with a touch of realism,” he shared. “He’s a big action hero, I’m a mass director and we have the perfect script. And let’s be clear, it’s not a remake,” added the director.

Gopichand also discusses about their works and what they like about each other

The filmmaker revealed about the Gadar actor’s love for his 2021 film starring Ravi Teja and Shruti Haasan as he mentioned, “Sunny has seen Krack, he liked it.” Meanwhile, Malineni has a list of films which are his favourites and he stated, “Me on the other hand, I think I’ve seen all his films. My favourites are Ghayal, Damini, Gadar, Border.”

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding details

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are expected to tie the knot in a court marriage ceremony amid the presence of family and close friends. The two actors, later in the evening, will be hosting a grand bash at Bastain in Mumbai which is expected to be a star-studded affair that will kick off at 8:30 pm.

Sara Ali Khan had a rocking debut in 2018 with Kedarnath followed by Simmba. Both films were released within three weeks of each other. Incidentally, the films were also shot almost together. In fact, there was a point when Kedarnath’s dates got affected after Prerna Aroraa left the film. Sara’s management agency gave some of these dates to the makers of Simmba. But soon, Kedarnath was back on track as the issue was resolved. By then, Sara Ali Khan’s dates were given away. Abhishek Kapoor, the director and one of the producers of Kedarnath, went to court over this issue. During an interaction with Mayank Shekhar of Mid-Day, Sara Ali Khan spoke about this episode in her life.

Sara explained, “In May 2018, I was supposed to do Simmba. Kedarnath was happening; it was my debut film. Then, some dates went upar neeche and I also signed Simmba. Now, there were 3-4 dates that were coinciding. And yeah, I got sued for Rs. 5 crores (by the makers of Kedarnath)! I was very nervous because I didn’t have Rs. 5 crores (smiles).”

Sara Ali Khan said that it was a difficult period of her life, “My mother (Amrita Singh) was in Delhi as her father was dying. Ibrahim was in school. And I was served a vakaalatnaama. I was like, ‘Ab iska main kya karoon? Samaj hi nahin aa raha’! I sent the management to court as I had to go and shoot which the makers were aware of as they were also at the shoot (smiles)!”

Thankfully, an out-of-court settlement happened soon. She revealed, “Rohit sir (Rohit Shetty) and Gattu sir (Abhishek Kapoor) met in a room. Ranveer Singh (her co-star in Simmba) was also present and he said, ‘Okay, then’ and quickly left the room as it was a bit strange.” Thankfully, a solution was reached in no time. Sara revealed, “Kedarnath’s makers only wanted three dates and Rohit sir said, ‘Theek hai, le lo’! The case ended.”

She also added, “It was tricky as I spent a lot of time flying from Hyderabad to Mumbai. I was shooting simultaneously; Simmba at night and Kedarnath in the morning.” She also stated that due to the case, the equation with Abhishek Kapoor. Then, one day, she got her spot girl Zarna, who makes great coffee, to prepare the beverage for Abhishek Kapoor. She said, “After that, the shoot was smooth.”

Sara Ali Khan also made it clear that there is no bad blood between her and Abhishek, “He also had his reasons. And it’s all good now.”

The web series is expected to give a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes of a glamorous industry like the Indian Entertainment industry, and Red Chillies Entertainment will produce it. Going by the reports, the show will also showcase a bevy of popular names from the Hindi film industry who will be doing special appearances. Junaid Khan, the son of Bollywood star Aamir Khan, makes his acting debut in the Netflix film Maharaj, which is based on the life of journalist Karsan Das Mulji. The narrative focuses around the lives of a journalist who, against the odds, used the power of his pen to fight against the 'atrocities' perpetrated by religious leaders.

Members of a Hindu organisation filed a court petition to block its distribution, arguing that it violated religious feelings. Protests against its publication included social media boycotts. Its publication was subsequently postponed for one week. The suspension was lifted by the Gujarat High Court on June 21.

After Maharaj secured a clean chit from the court, Yash Raj Films (YRF) issued a long message of thanks to the Court on its official Instagram account. The statement noted, “We are grateful to the judiciary for allowing the release of Maharaj, a film that celebrates one of the most important social reformers of our country, Karsandas Mulji.”

"A film release is almost like the arrival of a child for a film maker," said Director Siddharth P Malhotra in a note as his film, Maharaj, finally released on OTT. Taking to social media, Malhotra penned an emotional note about how the film tells a story that “needs to be told against all odds”. He said that even though the battle to release the film was uphill, they hope the pain and obstacles were worth it as the team is “super proud” of the film, which marks Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan’s acting debut.

“The film is finally live. Please watch the film and share it on social media to spread the word. we promise you it’s well worth your time and your families too. It’s a story hopefully you will agree that needs to be told,” he wrote in the long post.

The film is receiving immense love from critics. While people are praising Junaid’s first stint as an actor, critics are raving over Jaideep Ahlawat’s performance in it. The film marked Malhotra’s return to the director’s chair after Rani Mukherji’s Hichki, which released in theatres in 2018.
