The much-awaited Dhurandhar: The Revenge is all set to release in less than a week, on March 19. To capitalize on the excitement, Jio Studios decided to organize paid previews on Wednesday, March 18, from 5:00 pm onwards. The response to the ticket sales is historic. Despite the exorbitant ticket rates, shows are filling fast across the country. Meanwhile, from Thursday, March 12, Jio decided to increase the shows of Dhurandhar’s first part and also re-release it in several cinemas where it was discontinued.

It’s interesting to note that Dhurandhar’s Part 1, which was released on December 5, 2025, continued to play in several cinemas throughout this period. In fact, today marks the film’s 99th day in theatres, and tomorrow, March 14, it will complete a glorious 100-day run. There was a time when blockbuster films routinely achieved such milestones, but over the years, such feats have become increasingly rare. Hence, Dhurandhar stands out as a rare post-Covid film to enjoy such a long theatrical run.

Almost 1 ½ months ago, it dropped on Netflix. Usually, viewership in cinemas drops once a film is available online. But Dhurandhar’s first part continued to find steady audiences in certain theatres, due to which it was never discontinued. And now it has been re-released in several theatres, where it had ended its run, giving viewers a chance to recap before watching the sequel next week. Interestingly, the re-release has also happened worldwide. As per the official communication on March 12, Dhurandhar’s first part is currently running in 1000+ screens worldwide with more than 1250 shows.

Dhurandhar’s first part will continue to run in cinemas until the afternoon of March 18, after which it will be replaced by Dhurandhar: The Revenge. This marks the first time ever that the first part of a film has remained in cinemas until the release of its sequel. In short, the first installment has created history in more ways than one, and it now remains to be seen how many records Dhurandhar: The Revenge will go on to break.

In a move aimed at making the movie-going experience more inclusive, the Central Board of Film Certification has made subtitles mandatory for films across languages. The CBFC’s directive will come into effect from March 15, 2026. Henceforth, all Indian films will be required to include subtitles, along with audio descriptions wherever applicable.

The move is intended to improve accessibility for audiences who are hearing or visually impaired, allowing them to experience films more fully regardless of language or physical limitations.

However, not all netizens are happy with the CBFC’s decision to make subtitles mandatory. Many have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction, arguing that subtitles can be distracting and interfere with the immersive movie-viewing experience.

The excitement around the Dhurandhar franchise is reaching new heights as the original film returns to theatres worldwide ahead of the sequel’s release. Backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the global blockbuster Dhurandhar is getting a rare international theatrical re-release, building momentum for the upcoming sequel Dhurandhar The Revenge, which arrives in cinemas on March 19.

The re-release began in India on March 12 across around 250 screens and will expand overseas from March 13 with another 250 screens. Early reports indicate that several of these premiere shows are already sold out.

The advance booking of the paid previews of Dhurandhar: The Revenge has received an unbelievable response. What has surprised the trade and industry is that despite the ‘Super Blockbuster Plus’ rates, shows are filling fast. In short, the ticket prices are the highest ever, surpassing those of Pushpa 2 – The Rule (2024), Stree 2 (2024), Oppenheimer (2023), and others. In December 2024, Bollywood Hungama was the first to report that the costliest ticket was sold for Pushpa 2 at Rs. 3000 at Maison PVR, located in Jio World Drive, BKC, Mumbai. We have now learned that with Dhurandhar: The Revenge, one cinema has gone past even this exorbitant ticket rate.

At Inox Megaplex in Sky City Mall, Borivali, inaugurated in August 2025, the ticket rates of the 10:15 pm and 11:15 pm shows in the Insignia class are available for Rs. 2900 and Rs. 3100. Viewers will be stunned to know that despite such rates, the Recliner Prime class, whose tickets are available for Rs. 3100, are almost full. As of 8:30 am on March 12, only one ticket is yet to be sold in this class for both shows.

The other theatre in India that comes close to this rate is Inox M5 Ecity, Bengaluru. The ticket price range in the Dine-In screen is between Rs. 2000 and Rs. 2900. As for Maison PVR in Mumbai, which created a record with Pushpa 2, it is selling Recliner class tickets for Rs. 2500 and Rs. 2550 for Dhurandhar: The Revenge.

Bollywood Hungama went through the ticket rates of other theatres to find out how many of them are selling tickets for Rs. 2000 plus. In PVR Lower IMAX, Mumbai, the recliner seats are sold for Rs. 2500. In Inox Malad, the Insignia class tickets for the 11:00 pm and 11:50 pm shows are sold for Rs. 2200.

In PVR Versova, one can buy tickets for Recliner class for Rs. 1900 or Rs. 2100. In Inox Maison BKC, one will have to shell Rs. 2200 for Recliner seats while in Inox Nariman Point, one will have to pay Rs. 2300 and Rs. 2500 for Recliners. Rs. 2500 is the rate of one ticket in PVR Drive In, also located in Jio World Drive.

In Delhi-NCR, too, the rates are above Rs. 2000 in cinemas like PVR Vegas Dwarka (Luxe), PVR Superplex Logix Noida (Rs. 2300 in Gold Class), PVR Ambience Gurugram (Rs. 2000 and Rs. 2400 in Gold Class), PVR Select Citywalk (between Rs. 2000 and Rs. 2400 in the Recliner Section), PVR Cinemagic Pitampura (rates ranging from Rs. 1800 to Rs. 2400), PVR Director's Cut in Delhi and Noida (flat rate of Rs. 2400), Inox RCube Monad Mall Delhi (an Insignia-only theatre with a flat rate of Rs. 2400), MovieMax Edition Luxe Noida (recliners-only theatre with tickets sold at Rs. 2100 and Rs. 2400) and Inox Ardee Mall Gurugram (an Insignia-only theatre with tickets sold between Rs. 1800 to Rs. 2200).

In Bengaluru, the other theatre to sell tickets for Rs. 2000 was Cinepolis Nexus Shantiniketan for the VIP class.

Coming back to Mumbai, even in single screens, the prices have gone through the roof. Gaiety-Galaxy aka G7 multiplex, had increased the ticket price to Rs. 200 for the balcony and Rs. 180 for the stall for the first time for Pushpa 2 – The Rule. For Dhurandhar: The Revenge, while the stall rates are still maintained at Rs. 180, the balcony tickets are sold for Rs. 220. The same price points are also set for Maratha Mandir. The cheapest ticket in Mumbai is sold at Nishat Cinema. The Lower Stall ticket is available for just Rs. 150, while that of the Upper Stall is sold for Rs. 180. As for the balcony, one will need to pay Rs. 200 to buy a ticket. These rates are quite skyhigh for the humble cinema hall, which usually sells tickets for Rs. 70, Rs. 80 and Rs. 100.

Amidst unnecessarily alarming reports on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s health, there are also reports of multiple delays in the shooting of his Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt-Vicky Kaushal love triangle Love & War…which are absolutely untrue.

In a conversation that this writer had with Bhansali, he has confirmed that 90% of Love & War is complete and that remaining 10% will be completed in the next two months.

A source close to the project revealed, “These attempts to sabotage the project are nothing new to Sanjay Bhansali. Every time he makes a film, the same stories of delay and budget-pressures are spread. The truth is, the actors of Love & War have shot for the number of days they were signed for.”

A new development has emerged around the upcoming film being developed by filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. Just days after reports surfaced that Salman Khan had been roped in to headline the project, fresh updates suggest that actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu is also in discussions to join the film.

The director duo, popularly known as Raj & DK, are widely recognised for creating successful streaming series such as The Family Man and Guns & Gulaabs, while also backing films as producers. With their next venture, the filmmakers are reportedly aiming for a larger cinematic scale, bringing together a unique blend of genres. According to a report in Mid-Day, Samantha is currently being considered for a key role in the project. A source told the publication, “Samantha is very much in the conversation. She shares a strong creative equation with the makers, and they feel she fits the part."

Bollywood Hungama had earlier reported that Salman Khan’s role in the film will offer a fresh take on the superhero genre. The narrative is expected to mix humour with action while presenting the actor in an unconventional avatar. “Salman Khan will be seen as a superhero who wants to hang up his cape and retire from saving the world, having grown weary of doing the same thing on repeat. But circumstances refuse to let him live in peace and keep pulling him back into action time and again, eventually pushing him into a larger conflict. The narrative blends broad comedy with superhero beats essentially, a high-concept superhero comedy,” a source informed Bollywood Hungama.

If Samantha comes on board, the project will mark an exciting collaboration between the actor, also marking her Hindi film debut. Meanwhile, Salman Khan is currently preparing for the release of his next film Battle of Galwan, which is based on real-life events. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film features Chitrangda Singh alongside Salman and is scheduled to release on April 17, 2026. The actor is also expected to collaborate with producer Dil Raju on another upcoming project, though further details about that film remain under wraps.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, on the other hand, has an active slate of projects ahead. She will next be seen in the Telugu action drama Maa Inti Bangaram, which also marks her debut as a producer. The film features an ensemble cast including Gulshan Devaiah, Diganth Manchale, Gautami Tadimalla, and Sreemukhi, and is directed by BV Nandini Reddy. It is currently slated for a worldwide theatrical release on May 15, 2026.

In addition to that, Samantha will also appear in the much-anticipated web series Rakht Brahmand, which stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Ali Fazal, and Wamiqa Gabbi.

The walls seem to be closing in on Vijay, both personally and professionally. The upcoming YRF Spy Universe film Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, has officially locked its theatrical release date. The much-anticipated spy thriller is scheduled to hit cinemas on July 10, 2026, marking a significant addition to the blockbuster franchise created by Yash Raj Films.

Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is expected to be the first female-led installment in the YRF Spy Universe, which previously delivered major box-office successes with films such as Pathaan and War 2. The film places two women at the centre of a high-octane espionage narrative, expanding the scope of the franchise that has so far largely revolved around male protagonists.

While the makers have kept specific plot details under wraps, the film is described as a gritty, globe-trotting espionage thriller. The narrative reportedly follows Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as elite secret agents undertaking a high-stakes mission. Unlike some of the more stylised entries in the spy franchise, Alpha is said to adopt a rugged and raw aesthetic, focusing on a more grounded and intense depiction of field intelligence operations.

The film also brings together a strong ensemble cast. With Alia, Sharvari leading the narrative, Bobby Deol is set to play the primary antagonist. Alpha has seen multiple shifts in its release schedule. The film was initially slated for a Christmas 2025 release before being moved to April 17, 2026. The project has now settled on the July 10, 2026 date, allowing the makers additional time to complete its extensive visual effects work.

Addressing speculation surrounding the delay, a YRF spokesperson said the team wanted to ensure the film was presented at its best possible scale, adding that Alpha is being mounted as a major theatrical spectacle and that the studio aims to present it in its most cinematic form.

Actor Darsheel Safary has officially joined the cast of an upcoming cross-border international feature film that also stars Mohit Raina and National Award-winning actor Priya Mani. The yet-untitled project is being mounted as a global co-production between Mumbai-based Azure Entertainment and US-based Red Bison Productions.

The film will mark the first on-screen collaboration between Mohit Raina and Priya Mani, bringing together two performers known for their work across both theatrical cinema and streaming platforms. With Darsheel Safary joining the ensemble, the project brings together actors from different cinematic spaces, spanning mainstream films, prestige streaming content, and internationally recognised storytelling formats.

According to the makers, the film is positioned as a premium international project and is expected to be released on a global streaming platform. The story will reportedly explore themes of identity, resilience, and human connection across borders while blending cinematic scale with intimate human drama.

Darsheel Safary, who gained worldwide recognition with his debut performance in Taare Zameen Par, is said to play a key role in the narrative. Sources close to the production indicate that his character will act as an emotional bridge between the Indian and international worlds portrayed in the film, forming a central part of the story’s emotional arc.

Speaking about joining the project, Darsheel Safary shared, “This story moved me deeply. It speaks about courage, vulnerability, and choices that define who we become. I’m grateful to be part of a film that transcends geography and speaks to universal emotions.”

The untitled feature is based on a true story and will follow the emotional journey of an immigrant family navigating questions of identity, belonging, and life beyond the traditional idea of the American Dream. The project is written and directed by Harsh Mahadeshwar and is currently in advanced pre-production. Principal photography is scheduled to commence later this year, with the film expected to be shot across multiple international locations. Azure Entertainment, known for producing films such as Badla, Kesari, and Rocky Handsome, is collaborating with Red Bison Productions to bring the story to the screen. The makers of Dhurandhar: The Revenge have unveiled a gripping new trailer that promises a more intense and action-packed continuation of the story. The film serves as the sequel to Dhurandhar and is the second installment in a planned duology. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the upcoming spy action thriller stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role alongside Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Danish Pandor, and Gaurav Gera. Several supporting actors from the first film are also set to reprise their roles.

The trailer begins with a voiceover that references the aftermath of the death of Rehman Dakait aka Akshaye Khanna, setting the stage for a darker and more dangerous chapter in the story. It also offers brief glimpses of Ranveer Singh’s character Jaskirat Singh Rangi before he takes on the identity of Hamza Ali Mazar, hinting at the deeper layers of his undercover mission.

Interestingly, the sequel was shot back-to-back with the first installment. Principal photography began in July 2024 in Bangkok and continued across several locations including Punjab, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh. Some international sequences were also filmed in Thailand, which doubled for Pakistan-based settings in the story. The technical team behind the film includes music composer Shashwat Sachdev, cinematographer Vikash Nowlakha, and editor Shivkumar V. Panicker.

With its mix of espionage, revenge, and high-octane action, Dhurandhar: The Revenge aims to expand the scale established by the first film while delving deeper into the protagonist’s journey. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on March 19, 2026, coinciding with festive occasions including Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and Eid al-Fitr.

Actor Vivek Oberoi has spoken about the situation in Dubai amid the ongoing tensions linked to the Israel–Iran conflict. After Lara Dutta shared her perspective earlier, Oberoi also took to social media to address his fans and followers, highlighting the efforts of the Government of the United Arab Emirates in supporting residents during the situation.

Having earned massive acclaim for his gritty realism in Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, Dhulia’s presence suggests that Force 3 will pivot away from stylized stunts toward the hard-hitting, "desi" action that made the 2011 original a cult classic.

The biggest talking point of the leak is undoubtedly that Harshvardhan Rane looks ready for duty. Fresh off the massive success of Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, Rane has been vocal about his admiration for John Abraham, often referring to him as a mentor.

While Yash has played it safe with his Toxic, relocating it as far away from Dhurandhar: The Revenge as possible, another braveheart has decided to take on Aditya Dhar’s sequel head-on.

Pawan Kalyan ambitious project Ustaad Bhagat Singh has been preponed from March 22 to March 19, thereby precipitating a direct clash with Dhurandhar 2. Pawan took this flash decision following the postponement of Yash’s Toxic from March 19 to June 4.

A source very close to Dhurandhar told this writer that Pawan Kalyan’s airdrop means nothing to the Dhurandhar team. They were not perturbed by the release of Toxic on March 19, they are not taking the competition from Ustaad Bhagat Singh seriously.

However, Pawan Kalyan is taking the clash to the highest level.

A source close to Pawan revealed, “He firmly feels the March 19 slot and its Eid and Rama Navami holidays offer enough room for more than one blockbuster. He will be vigorously promoting his film and urging his supporters to back the Telugu product over the Hindi one.”

On the other hand, the team of Dhurandhar: The Revenge is not doing any promotional activity. “Do we need to do any promotion?” Madhavan who plays key role in Dhurandhar: The Revenge wants to know.
